Home of the Zonta Breast Care Cushion

Meeting at 7pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month in Taren Point, the Zonta Club of Botany Bay draws in members from all over the south eastern sector of Sydney - going south of Kingsford Smith Airport over Botany Bay and down to the Royal National Park, and across to Hurstville, Oatley and St George.

The Club is known all over the world for its pioneering work in developing the Zonta Breast Care Cushion and seeing the project extend from initial efforts in 1996 to now having international recognition.

The Club in action

Zonta Breast Care CushionsBut there is a great deal more to the Zonta Club of Botany Bay, such as our ongoing commitment to improving the educational and professional status of women through the Young Women in Public Affairs Award.

This is a program of Zonta International which is designed to encourage young women to participate visibly in the life of their community by taking on leadership roles. In 2003, the Club's 2002 winner went on to be one of five world wide winners of the Award from Zonta International.

The YWPA Award Dinner is always a highlight of our year for the members to see the great potential of the young women in our community, and share the Award dinner occasion with their families.

Our commitment to educational initiatives is also evident in:

  • A long standing TAFE achievement prize at St George and Gymea.
  • Sponsorship of a girl to attend school in Tanzania - St Jude's School is the creation of Australian woman Gemma Sisia, and it operates almost entirely on sponsorship of students. Gemma's work was brought to prominence in Australia when she appeared on the ABC's Australian Story in August 2005.
