We are supporting the women in Australia's National Capital by providing funding and hands on service, to advance the status of women:

•educational & professional - PhD Top up Scholarship with Mt Stromlo Observatory, ANU: A $5,000 top up scholarship awarded annually to a female PhD candidate studying at the Mt. Stromlo Observatory to support her living expenses.

•health - by supporting Karinya House, a refuge and support centre for young mothers. Canberra Breakfast Club donates funds and works with Karinya on projects such as working bees at their homes, and supply of kitchen packs.

•professional & political - by conducting the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, a Zonta International programme for young women aged between 16 & 20, not yet at Uni, who do volunteer work in their local community. Club applications open in October each year. There is a $500 prize from the Club plus the chance to win at District and International levels. Email the Club for an official application form.

•educational - by continuing the CIT Education & Training Award for a woman who is taking a 2nd chance to develop their potential through eduation and training. The award is for $1,000 to assist with fees, books and other associated costs. Applications are available through CIT.

•health - by supporting two District 24 Endorsed projects. The Club makes Zonta Breast Care Cushions (read more about this project) and Zonta Birthing Kits ... read more about these projects. Sew, Stuff and Sip sessions are usually held three times a year and we make enough cushions so that every woman in the ACT region who needs a cushion gets a cushion.
