Joanna Quinn, Zonta International Foundation Ambassador

Member of the Zonta Club of Sydney

A solicitor in private practice in New South Wales for over 30 years, in a small firm which deals with “families” – domestic conveyancing, wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardianships, Probate (and office administration) - and a Zontian since 1983, over the last 10 years I have also traveled widely in the Middle East including Egypt Syria Jordan and Lebanon.

My passion for archaeology and History – Ancient medieaval and modern - has lead to me completing a Masters of Arts Degree in Egyptology at Macquarie University and work through the University in the pre and Early Dynastic cemetery of Helwan.  I have also assisted with classification and recording of items in the Egyptian Museum Cairo reserve collection and escorting small historically and archaeologically focussed groups on tours to Syria and Jordan, and soon to Tunisia.

Concern over the status of women led me to Zonta, and the more I have traveled the more important my Zonta work has become.  My travels show me the many ways in which the status of women everywhere still needs a great deal of work.
