The Club in action
In addition to supporting various overseas projects through Zonta International, our Club is very involved with one of the District 24 Endorsed Service Projects of making Zonta Breast Care Cushions for breast cancer surgery patients at Westmead Public and Private Hospitals, Mt Druitt Hospital, Blacktown Hospital, Auburn District Hospital and others when requested.
To keep the supply going, we have two major stuffing days a year and help is always welcome – we rely greatly on the much wider circle of supporters who assist members of the Club with this project.
In addition, the Zonta Club of Blacktown is delighted to have received a 2011 Greater Western Sydney Cancer Council Grant for this work and we thank them very much for this assistance.
The Club also supports a local domestic violence refuge and have been able to give them real practical help over the past four years.
Other activities include assisting other Zonta clubs to put together birthing kits for distribution to developing countries and making comfort rugs for Westmead Hospital (for example, to go to babies from disadvantaged families).
We are a small but committed, socially aware group who want to see our club grow. We operate in a thriving multi-cultural area that needs many more services, and we aim to play a significant part in that development.
How can you help ?
We can use all the help we can get at our working days and financial support for our projects is very welcome indeed.
Please contact us by email if you could help the Club in any way, or to find out more about our Club.
