Motto Future Leaders Building a Better World Today Through Service and Advocacy
4 May 2012: 19 young women from the Shoalhaven High School have joined with hundreds of women from across NSW and the ACT who aspire to contribute to a simple goal – changing the world!
Speaking at the charter event for the new Z Club, District 24 Governor 2010-2012 Carolyn Evans highlighted the ambition shared by all members of Z Clubs and Zonta Clubs around the world.
“We have just one big thing in common – we are here to advance the status of women. That means we are working to change the world for the better, to find ways to improve the lives of women,” Mrs Evans said.
“Women locally, across the state and around the world need us to do the things that will give them better options in terms of their health, economic, educational, professional, political and legal status as women.”
Mrs Evans also noted that the new Z Club had used “essentially the same process to elect office holders that is used in the democratic processes of membership organisations all the way to the United Nations.”
With their sponsors at the Zonta Club of Berry Inc, the new Z Club members enjoyed afternoon tea with invited guests including Ms Joanna Gash MP (Federal) Member for Gilmore, Mayor Paul Green from the Shoalhaven City Council and Mr Gareth Ward MP (State) Member for Kiama.
