THE CLUB IN ACTION
Breast Care Cushions
In addition to supporting various projects through Zonta International, our club is very involved in the District 24 Endorsed Service Project of producing breast care cushions for breast cancer surgery patients. We supply the Breast Care Institute at Westmead public hospital with cushions which are distributed to hospitals throughout Greater Western Sydney. We have developed relationships with community groups including Dillwynia Correctional Centre to help produce these cushions.
Supporting Domestic Violence Survivors
The club actively supports several domestic violence refuges and works closely with support services in our area. We provide practical help such as donations of nappies, toiletries, linen and towels to women in refuges. We also support a “Mums and Bubs” musical group with musical instruments and morning tea supplies. We supply information booklets – Charmed and Dangerous – to local support agencies for distribution to their clients. We support the local police area command with White Ribbon Events and the Zonta International Campaign – Zonta says No to Domestic Violence.
Educational Awards
We support the District 24 Secondary Indigenous Award and provide a monetary prize plus trophy to an aboriginal woman studying in Western Sydney Institute of TAFE who demonstrates commitment and courage to overcome adversity and produces good results.
Making a difference
We are a committed socially aware group which includes both women and men who want to see our club grow. We operate in a thriving multicultural area that requires many more services and we aim to play a significant part in that development.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE
Attend a meeting or event. This is a good way to find out more about Zonta (locally and internationally). Email your name and email address to be added to the club’s meeting and event invitation email lists. Prospective members are encouraged to attend at least two meetings/other events before submitting an application to join.
SUPPORT
You don’t need to be a member of a Zonta club to contribute to Zonta’s efforts to improve the lives of women and girls. Service projects always need money – your donation to Zonta’s work in general or to a specified local or internal project is welcomed.
