“Zonta Says NO” is a Zonta International campaign to raise awareness of and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world.
The 2012-2014 campaign featured the service and advocacy actions of Zonta clubs and districts around the world to prevent and end violence against women and girls in their local communities, especially during the 16 Days of Activism from White Ribbon Day on 25 November to Human Rights Day on 10 December.
Clubs in District 24 undertook a wide range of activities including organising special speakers at major club events to raise funds for projects to assist women suffering from violence, holding awareness raising events in public places such as shopping centres and public libraries, raising funds for awareness-raising advertisements in local cinemas, and organising personal development sessions for school boys, linked to White Ribbon Day.
Our advocacy actions matter!
Message from 2014-2016 Zonta International President, Maria Jose Landeira Oestergaard
“As we are developing the Zonta says No to Violence Against Women campaign for the 2014-2016 biennium, I would like to give you some updates.
The Zonta International website is being updated and new material is being prepared. Focus this biennium is Advocacy and we are preparing tools that will hopefully help you in your advocacy actions. The goal is to have all material ready on 25th October, 1 month before the 16 days of Activism begin. But we are working hard and material will be updated continuously.
We will modify slightly the material based on the feedback from last biennium:
- The word SAYS in the “Zonta says No” ribbons etc was not visible enough
- The campaign will say “Zonta says No to Violence Against Women”
