THE CLUB IN ACTION
Young Women in Public Affairs
The club has an ongoing commitment to improving the educational and professional status of women through the Young Women in Public Affairs Award.
This is a program of Zonta International which is designed to encourage young women to participate visibly in their community by taking on leadership roles. ZCBB YWPA winners in 2012, 2013 and 2014 have enjoyed further successes as winners at District (2012) and International Award levels (2013 and 2014).
The YWPA Award Dinner is always a highlight, publicly recognising the great potential of the young women in our community.
Encouraging Education
Young Indigenous Women’s Award – celebrating outstanding young indigenous women.
Sponsorship of a girl to attend the School of St Jude in Tanzania.
Breast Care Cushions
The club is known all over the world for its pioneering work in developing the Zonta Breast Care Cushion, which provide comfort to women recovering from breast cancer surgery. The project extended from initial efforts in 1996 to now having international recognition.
Birthing Kits
Our club now has two regular assembly days per year, one at Moorefield Girls High School and one at Beverly Hills Girls High School (year 9 students working with club members). Both schools are very enthusiastic and fundraise to contribute to the cost of purchasing these kits.
Golf Day Fundraiser
The annual golf day is a great event for the members to enjoy the fellowship of working together, organising 120 or so golfers through 18 holes and keeping them well refreshed throughout.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE
Attend a meeting or event. This is a good way to find out more about Zonta (locally and internationally). Email your name and email address to be added to the club’s meeting and event invitation email lists. Prospective members are encouraged to attend at least two meetings/other events before submitting an application to join.
SUPPORT
You don’t need to be a member of a Zonta club to contribute to Zonta’s efforts to improve the lives of women and girls. Service projects always need money – your donation to Zonta’s work in general or to a specified local or internal project is welcomed.
