Breast Care Cushions

These cushions provide physical and emotional support to individuals who have had surgery for breast cancer. Cushion production provides opportunity for both hands-on sewing, stuffing, packaging as well as a social get-together. There is an ongoing need to fund-raise for the purchase of materials. Birthing Kits

Birthing kits  address the seven “cleans” needed for a safe delivery. Each year the club holds or participates in at least one birthing kit assembly day. The frequency and number of kits depends on funds raised through donations and fund-raising events. $5 will pay for one kit to be assembled and delivered to a woman needing a basic hygenic birthing environment. Read more.

Women in Engineering Education Award

Initiated in 2002, this club award encourages young women studying engineering. Judging and presentation take place in association with the Women in Engineering & Technology Program at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). It comprises a cash prize and recognition within Zonta and at UTS. Read more.

Lou’s Place – A Safe Place for Women

Lou’s Place is a daytime refuge for women in inner Sydney. Toiletries are contributed on a regular basis. The club also responds to requests, such as for warm socks in winter.

  • Listen to what a club member has to say about what attracted her to Zonta.
  • Watch a short video about Zonta International prepared by the club’s sponsor Calmar Corps. Attend a meeting or event. This is a good way to find out more about Zonta (locally and internationally).
  • Email your name and contact details to be added to the Club’s meeting and event invitation email lists. Prospective members are encouraged to attend at least two meetings/other events before submitting an application to join.
  • Read a brief history.

You don’t need to be a member of a Zonta club to contribute to Zonta’s efforts to improve the lives of women and girls. Service projects always need money, and your donation to Zonta’s work in general or to a specified local or internal project is welcomed.
